BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said he will "suspend" his demand that Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian be sacked and wait for events to bear out his allegations against the latter.
"If BJP Union government says that we know all about AS (Arvind Subramanian) but still he is an asset, then I will suspend my demand and wait for events to prove truth," Swamy posted on Twitter.
Earlier, Swamy had launched an attack on Arvind Subramanian suggesting that the CEA had all along been helping the United States in its economic relations with India and demanded that he be sacked.
Swamy's personalised attack on Arvind Subramanian led the government on Wednesday to defend the CEA who was appointed in October 2014.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said he and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not share Swamy's view.
While "suspending" his demand that the CEA be sacked, Swamy continued to suggest that Arvind Subramanian was working against Indian interests.
He tweeted: "AS (Arvind Subramanian) to US Congress: "US initiatives by discriminating against India companies and exporters will exert pressure on India to open up" AS 13/3/13!."
