The sporting director of VFL Wolfsburg Klaus Allofs on Monday ruled out the possibility of an immediate transfer of Swiss footballer Ricardo Rodriguez from the German club to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Given the FIFA sanction banning the Spanish club from signing new players during the next two transfer windows, Real Madrid will likely have to sign Rodriguez in the ongoing January transfer window, reports Efe.
Allofs said that Real Madrid should forget about the transfer, emphasising that the German club will not make this transfer immediately.
The penalty clause of Rodriguez's contract if he leaves the German club before the end of the current season is 35 million euros ($38 million), which should be paid by Wolfsburg to allow him to leave by the end of this season.
Rodriguez's name was circulated more than once as a possible signing for Real Madrid this season.
