The Haryana government Thursday announced that yoga guru Ramdev will be the state's brand ambassador to promote yoga and ayurveda.
Health Minister Anil Vij, who met Ramdev at his ashram in Haridwar Thursday, said the state government had urged Ramdev to be brand ambassador for Haryana and he had agreed.
Vij said that gymnasiums and yogshalas (yoga centres) would be set up in almost all villages in the state and trainers would be engaged to train children, youth and senior citizens.
Training of yoga would be provided in all schools for students, he said.
Vij also said that the Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, would be upgraded as an university to promote ayurvedic education in the state.
He said that world's first world herbal forest would be developed on thousands of acres in Haryana in which more than 25,000 types of medicinal plants would be grown.
