At the post-monetary policy review press conference, the Reserve Bank of India governor was asked, "During the previous policy meeting, the announcement was dovish and the guidance was hawkish. This time around the announcement is hawkish but the guidance is dovish." To which Raghuram Rajan repeated what his colleague deputy governor Urijit Patel had a little earlier told him, "We are neither hawks nor doves. We are owls. An owl is a symbol of wisdom. We are vigilant when others are resting."
