While Ravindra Jadeja was banned from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for trying to negotiate with a rival franchisee (he played for Rajasthan Royals), it turns out the problem may go a bit deeper. During the appeal process, it was found that a senior cricketer had taken Jadeja to meet BCCI President Shashank Manohar, to ask for permission for Jadeja to play for his team. The IPL governing council decided not to pursue matters in the hope that banning Jadeja would send the right signal to all players.
