Jumped up

Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi is not the only person who believes his status gives him the right to jump queues. Airport officials say almost any person who has some sort of celebrity or VIP status jumps the queue at the airports and expect the security not to frisk them. The list includes film actors, sportspersons, politicians and industrialists and CEOs. But the moment they land in other countries, the same people behave like schoolchildren and promptly stand in the queue. "The last time one security officer asked the wife of a leading industrialist to stand in queue and go through a security check, he was transferred. Since then, no one takes any chance here and lets these VIPs do what they like," says an exasperated Mumbai airport official.
