Apropos the editorial "A new hope" (April 18), the United Nations' report on climate change has warned that governments have not done enough to curb the rise in emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). The ideal solution to the problem of GHGs is the use of solar energy to run industries and homes. Unfortunately, this step has not been implemented. Meanwhile, nuclear energy can prove to be a costly affair - and a risky one, too, as we have saw in the Fukushima disaster in Japan. Developed nations should not play politics with climate change since the use of petroleum and its products is more in such nations. The rapid increase in population is another reason for GHG emissions. Another possible alternative could be the use of bio fuels.
