This refers to the report “Buck stops with me” (June 30). The PM should be congratulated for holding a press conference to voice his opinions on the present economic and political scenario. He blamed the media and the opposition for what he considers to be a wrong perception of the situation. But he should ask himself what he would do if the NDA were in power under similar circumstances.
We have been hearing his predictions on the inflation rate coming down for more than two years. The whole issue has become a joke. Blaming the US for excess liquidity is not an answer to the travails of the Indian economy. Also, the rise in international commodity prices explains only a small part of the local inflation. Is there an estimate of how much of price rise is accounted for by this?
