This refers to ‘The right mix of big-ticket and other shows is critical’ (July 24). It was very nice to know that Colors’ CEO is a young man of 35. The industry needs more dynamic people like him. We must, however, not get too caught up in the eyeball game — years after the internet bubble burst, we are still measuring businesses on this metric. Everyone in the industry knows that TRPs are a mug’s game. The only thing that matters is cash — how much cash is Colors generating and how long would it take to break even? If it is going to produce expensive programmes to stay on top of the game but is not able to monetise them, it will be a waste of money.
