This refers to the report “Air India seeks Rs 2k-cr further equity infusion” (December 27). There is no point in pumping more money into the national carrier. As long as Air India is managed by officers from the Indian Administrative Services, there is little hope that the airline will ever recover. Further, it is common knowledge that the civil aviation minister has systematically crippled the national airline. Therefore, as long as Praful Patel continues to be the minister and the managing director continues to be a bureaucrat, any amount of money spent on the airline will be a waste of public money.
