The financial sector is extremely bullish about the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party's prospects in the 2014 elections for all kinds of reasons. At a recent event in the financial capital, Mumbai, a fund manager explained why he thought the National Democratic Alliance would get 235 to 240 seats: "He [Modi] started his campaign from the holy city of Varanasi and is fighting from there as well, there is no way BJP can lose," he said. Asked how someone who dealt in thousands of crores a day could put so much faith in god, he tartly replied: "Given the state of the country, we have put our faith in god."
