After the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, Indian Railways (IR) came to the rescue of its employees by giving them Rs 10,000 in cash as salary advance. The IR did the job in its unique style. In an announcement reminiscent of railway platform announcements [“Yatriyon kripya dhyan dijiye (Attention, passengers)...], a woman announced the relief to officials at the Railway Bhawan in Delhi: “Railway karmchariyon, aap sabko ek mahine ki tankhva mein se Rs 10,000 advance cash mein milega....”
