FM insists he has advised I-T officers to soften their image for the general public

Finance Minister P Chidambaram may be focusing his ministry’s attentions on companies that enjoy tax exemptions, but he insists he has advised income tax officers to soften their image for the general public. Or so he told a press conference after meeting income tax officers. Such was the fear of the taxman, he told reporters, that people don’t invite I-T officers to their weddings; if they do, the hosts makes sure no one wears jewellery at those functions.
