Woman power in Chhattisgarh

If missing voters in South Mumbai is a possible problem for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra, in Chhattisgarh, it could be the large turnout of women voters in constituencies in which women candidates were contesting that could pose a challenge to the saffron party. In Chhattisgarh, women gave their male counterparts a tough fight in five of the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies. On average, 65 per cent of the voters who exercised their franchise in those five constituencies were women, with a 75 per cent turnout in Raigarh, where the Congress has pitted Aarti Singh against BJP state President Vishnudeo Sai. All this has put the ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh in a fix since of the five constituencies where the turnout of women has been more than men, three belong to the Congress.
