Akhilesh announces pension scheme for journalists

Jeevan Dhara Policy of the LIC is run by the Journalist Welfare Society with active financial aid of the state govt

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed officials to expand the Journalists' Pension Scheme in the state.

The Jeevan Dhara Policy of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is run by the Journalist Welfare Society with active financial aid of the state government.

A government department official said here today in first phase, all state accredited media representatives and journalists working in print and electronic media at the state headquarters and covered under the 'working journalist' category would benefit.

However, the beneficiary media persons would have to meet the conditions of the said policy.
