AAP's fall may point to an unstable govt at Centre: Assocham

Urges AAP to be engaged with industry and trade so that it gets clarity on a number of issues

Industry body, Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), fears the national government to be formed  after  the Lok Sabha polls may be unstable, after the Aam  Admi Party (AAP) regime resigned in Delhi. India Inc, on the other hand, is looking forward to a stable regime at the Centre, it said.

“The fall of AAP (governnment) in the national capital may well point to an ominous prospect of an unstable government coming at the Centre in the next two months even while India Inc would like a reforms-friendly and a stable regime at the national level,” the chamber said in a statement. BS Assocham said it was not surprised at the unfolding of events in Delhi as there was no meeting ground between AAP and Congress.

It urged AAP to be engaged with the industry and trade so that it gets clarity. It said even though a fractured mandate is unavoidable in the present political context, the industry would be more comfortable with a coalition of parties which are in harmony among themselves.

"If the parties with sharp conflicting political and economic ideologies come together and form the governments in the states and at the Centre, the economic growth and business environment will take a hit,” the statement said.
