Led by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Congress is wooing the masses this time with their slogan "Anubhav hai, raftar hai, Congress phir iss bar hai (There is experience, there is pace; Its going to be Congress again)".
"Congress says 'anubhav hai, raftar hai'... I tell you it is right, because they have an experience of scams ('anubhav hai ghotalon ka') and have seen crime growing apace ('raftar hai aparadhon ki')," senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said today.
"The state government and the Centre both have experience of so many scams - the big CWG scam, huge 2G spectrum scam and the mammoth coal scam. And, crimes have risen at such speed in the city. After the December 16 gangrape, crimes against women still continue unchecked," Swaraj alleged.
Slamming Dikshit for "asking women to stay indoors" after dark, Swaraj said, "These women who work at call centres at night, they don't go there out of choice but to earn a living. It would have been better had she (Dikshit) provided them with vehicles and security guards instead of asking them to stay indoors".
Swaraj had a hectic schedule for the day as she attended rallies in multiple constituencies - Model Town, Sadar Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Najafgarh and Matia Mahal. Addressing a gathering of traders at Kamla Nagar market in Model Town, she asked for their votes as a "bohni for BJP".
"In your trade parlance you call your first sale 'bohni'. So, be our first voters and do the 'bohni' for us," she said.
Meanwhile, at a rally last night at Chirag Delhi in the Greater Kailash constituency, BJP sought to puncture the Congress claim of Delhi being a "world-class" city.
"Delhi has become a capital of rapes and the dirty Yamuna. Yet, Congress calls it one of the best capital cities," senior BJP leader VK Malhotra had told the gathering.
Referring to a speech by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, Malhotra remarked that, "He (Rahul) says Delhi is one of the best cities in the world, but the foreigners who come here... See people living beside railway platforms and tracks and they see men, women and children defecating in the open... That is also an image of the national capital that they carry back.
