Altogether 24 persons, including educationist Sunanda Sanyal, were today arrested during an agitation to demand arrest of those named by suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh in the Saradha scam, police sources said.

Hundreds of Left-backed protesters tried to enter the Bidhannagar police commissionerate on their demand. PDS leader Samir Patitunda alleged that the police manhandle the agitators without any provocation. CPI(M) leader Shymal Chakrabarty complained that police heckled and roughed up the agitators.

"We are planning to file a complaint against the police for this," Chakrabarty said.
