Parliament functioned smoothly except in monsoon session last year

Contrary to the belief that the Lok Sabha has been more productive than the Rajya Sabha, data suggest the latter has been equally productive since the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government took over in May 2014.

It was only in the monsoon session of 2015 when opposition parties, led by the Congress, had obstructed functioning of the Rajya Sabha over the Vyapam scam and the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders helping former Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi to procure travel documents.
