Elections to the three municipal corporations in the national capital — north, south and east Delhi — will be held on April 22 and results declared on April 25, the Delhi State Election Commission said on Tuesday.
Polling in all 272 wards of the three civic bodies will be conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), an election panel announcment said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier asked the State Election Commission to conduct the civic polls through ballot paper instead of EVMs.
Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken also wrote to the commission with the same demand after allegations by certain political leaders that EVMs were tampered with in the just-concluded assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
