Security around Parliament House has been stepped up and movement in the area restricted in anticipation of violent protests ahead of the discussion on the Telangana bill in the Lok Sabha Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police S B S Tyagi told IANS: "Extra personnel have been pressed into service to guard all the entry and exit points around the Parliament House."
According to another police officer, only authorised vehicles were being allowed to enter the area. Personnel of Delhi Police along with those of the Rapid Action Force in riot gear could be seen manning the barricades put up at Vijay Chowk to prevent the entry of protestors.
The officer said that policemen in plain clothes also have been deputed at the periphery of the high-profile area at "strategic locations" to keep a check on any gathering of protestors.
