"The decision taken by the JD (U) is hasty and will damage the NDA's prospects. It will be beneficial for the Congress party," said party spokesman Sanjay Raut, adding he had shown his desire to hold talks with JD (U) chief Sharad Yadav to find a way out.
"The tension rose between the BJP and JD (U), after the BJP last week announced Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP's election campaign chief. It was however, the BJP's internal issue," he opined.
Raut added the NDA was yet to decide on the prime ministerial candidate.
The Shiv Sena has repeatedly said that the decision on the prime ministerial candidate will have to be taken by all NDA allies and called for convening a meeting in this regard.
