The Russian city of Ufa, which will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting on July 9 and 10 might see some interaction between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines.

The Pakistani side seems keen to hold a meeting but conceded that no one had contacted them yet.

India and Pakistan suspended conversation over the Hurriyat attending a meeting in New Delhi at the residence of the Pakistan envoy, although India had requested him not to host the meeting ahead of the visit of the foreign secretary to Islamabad.

If it materialises, this contact at the highest level could be the much needed ice-breaker.
