IDBI Bank Launches Aadhaar Enrolment in Chennai

IDBI Bank Ltd, one of the Registrars for enrolment of residents under Aadhaar project of UIDAI has launched its enrolment in Tamilnadu from 10 branches in Chennai for its customers, their relatives and other residents on October 31, 2011. The launch was inaugurated by Shri K.C. Jani, Executive Director, IDBI Bank Ltd, Mumbai at Greams Road Branch, Chennai. Shri S. Andi, CGM & Head – Financial Inclusion Department and Shri K. Ramaswamy, CGM & Head – PBG (South) were also present. Shri K. Ramaswamy while welcoming the customers mentioned that the Bank has started the enrolment first from Chennai and was very happy to provide this service to the Bank’s customers as a part of customer care.

The Bank will also commence enrolment from other Branches in Tamilnadu soon. He also mentioned that IDBI Bank is proud to be a part of a National Mission in providing Unique Identification Number or Aadhaar to the residents of India. Shri Andi while explaining the benefits of Aadhaar has mentioned that Aadhaar is a means for residents to easily and effectively establish their identity, to any Agency, anywhere in the country, without having to repeatedly produce identity documentation.

Inaugurating the launch programme Shri K.C. Jani, Executive Director stated that the Bank perceived Aadhaar as a mighty tool to empower the common person by facilitating him/her access to a modern financial system of the country as also a step towards a sustainable and inclusive growth, which in turn was essential for building an equitable society.

Simultaneously the enrolment has commenced from IDBI Bank’s Branches located at Parrys Corner, Kilpauk, T. Nagar, Velacherry, Ashok Nagar, Periyar Nagar, Anna Nagar, Mogappair, Thiruvanmiyur and Nandanam.
