ING today announced the appointment of Frank Koster as Chief Executive Officer for its Insurance Asia/Pacific business line. Effective 1 October 2009, Mr. Koster will relocate to Hong Kong to begin his new role, reporting to Hans van der Noordaa, a member of ING Group’s Management Board for Insurance with responsibility for Insurance Asia/Pacific and Europe.

The appointment sees Mr. Koster return to the region after working over three years at ING Group headquarters in Amsterdam where he is general manager of Corporate Communications & Affairs (CC&A).  CC&A is responsible for the positioning of ING Group and relationship management with key strategic stakeholders, including investors, media, employees, regulatory bodies and governments. In addition, Mr. Koster also oversees the development of ING’s global brand positioning, which has enjoyed significant increases in awareness during his tenure.

Originally joining ING in 1996, Mr. Koster served in roles in the insurance business of Nationale-Nederlanden in the Netherlands before his appointment as Chief Marketing Officer at ING Life Korea in 2001 and subsequently, to the role of Chief Executive Officer at ING Life India (2004), ING’s joint venture with the Rajan Raheja Group, supporting its expansion plan to establish a nationwide footprint.

Mr. van der Noordaa stated: “The combination of Frank’s experience in the business units in Asia/Pacific and his experience at Group working closely with the Executive Board gives him the right insight to lead Insurance Asia/Pacific at a time when we see the region’s customers looking to ING to help them manage their financial futures in a very challenging economic environment.  I am confident that Frank will take Insurance Asia/Pacific to the next level.”

Frank Koster holds a masters degree in medicine from the University of Amsterdam.  He is married and has four children.
