Do you consider yourself the best developer in India? If you think ‘Yes’ then Gild provides you that opportunity to win the crown of India’s first Tech Idol.
Gild.com, the world’s premier site for developers to build, share and compare their skills profiles, has begun its nation-wide hunt for India’s greatest developer. Sponsored by Oracle and Mingle box, Tech Idol is the biggest competition to date for developers in India, be it a student, enthusiast or a professional.
Following is the schedule of the competition:
- Round 1: 5th Sept to 16th Sept, 2011
- Round 2: 19th Sept to 25th Sept, 2011
- Round 3: 28th Sept to 5th Oct, 2011
The top developers, determined according to Gild evaluation methods, will progress through each round to compete for the grand prize comprising of a week-long VIP trip that includes flight, accommodation and spending-money, to Silicon Valley, USA, home of Oracle, Facebook, Google, Twitter and LinkedIn, and receive special tutorials from some great technology professionals.
Focusing on ‘what you know’ rather than ‘who you know’ the competition emphasizes that skills also matter, and not merely schools or qualifications. Tests will be answerable in any major programming language.
Mr. Manjunath Ramesh, MD, Gild-India, said, “While professional networking is important, skills are even more important. Gild wishes to bring back the focus on talent, which alone, regardless of one’s academic pedigree or network reach, can ensure that anyone can become India’s Tech Idol.”
