Bandh supporters set fire to a motorcycle at Bank Tinali here while stone pelting on government vehicles was reported in some parts of the capital city, police sources said.

Educational institutions, business establishments, central government offices and banking institutions remained closed while attendance in state government offices was 'thin'.

All commercial, private and public vehicles remained off the roads except for a few state transport buses which were running with escorts.

There was intensified police patrol in Itanagar and Naharlagun with watch being kept on all vulnerable pockets, the sources added.

The bandh has been called by the All Nyishi Youth Council (ANYC), Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) and Arunachal Pradesh Youth Forum (APYF) demanding immediate cancellation of land possession certificates awarded to non-Arunachalees.

The other demands of the organizations include, increasing the age-limit for APST and OBC candidates in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations and action against 'misrepresentation' of the Nyishi tribe in a general knowledge book.

The three organizations had earlier called a 12-hour capital bandh on May 28.
