Responding to a question by BJP member Japu Deru in the assembly during question hour regarding electrification under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), Byaling informed that 2,090 un-electrified villages would be covered under the scheme.
He said, RGGVY, a central scheme was renamed as 'Din Dayal Upadhay Gram Jyoti Yojana' (DDUGJY).
Out of the sanctioned amount of Rs 926.99 crore from the Centre, the department had received Rs 915.66 crore against the scheme on May 24 last.
Responding to a supplementary from Congress MLA Pani Taram, the minister informed that there were less license holders in the state and mostly outsiders compete in tender process.
He said that proposals have been made to illuminate street lights through solar energy.
