1 killed, 17 injured at van overturns

One person was killed and 17 others injured after a van in which they were travelling, turned turtle near Ausgram of the district, the police said.
A group of Trinamool Congress supporters from Dhankura village of Ausgram had gone to the neighbouring Ramnagar area to attend a party rally and while they were returning to their village in a van, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Morebandh and overturned, the police said.
Local villagers rushed to the rescue of the victims and they were first rushed to a primary health centre and later on shifted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, the police said adding, Apurba Ghosh (42), a resident of Dhankura, died on the way to the hospital and the condition of three among the 17 injured were stated to be critical.

The vehicle has been seized, the police said.
