Senior BJP leader Nirmal Singh today claimed the 10-month-long coalition rule in Jammu and Kashmir was a "golden period" and that there was no compromise in the interests of Jammu region.
"The 10-month-long coalition rule of BJP with PDP was a golden period when 67 corrupt officials were shown the door, healthy work culture was introduced, lands for IIT, AIIMS were identified, IIM, IIMC and IHM were sanctioned for Jammu, Food Safety Act extended to J&K," he claimed.
Besides, thousands of kanals of "illegally occupied" government land was retrieved, work on beautification and development of river Tawi on Sabarmati pattern was initiated, amnesty scheme for electricity consumers were introduced, the former deputy chief minister of the state said.
Education, health and tourism sectors were prioritised. While doing this there was no compromise on the interests of Jammu and the future will see the region as a hub of high quality education on the pattern of Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Singh said.
State BJP chief Sat Sharma said, while UPA-I and UPA-II continuously scaled higher and higher heights of corruption, the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre put a check on graft and launched Jan Dhan Yojna, insurance schemes for farmers and the poor, Sharma added.
