"2,598 raids were conducted in entire Jammu division to arrest the menace of liquor smuggling, illicit distillation of liquor and other violations this year," Excise Commissioner of J&K Tsering Angchuk said.
104 people were arrested and cases lodged in various courts of law against the accused for smuggling liquor meant for sale in other states, illicit distillation of liquor and other ancillary offences, Angchuk said.
"More than three tons of Lahan, meant for manufacturing illicit liquor, was also destroyed in Jammu Division by Excise department sleuths who conducted surprise raids in various areas," he said.
