SSG Hospital's Head of Paediatric Department B Javdekar said that, "Manisha Papu Bhagat, who resided in Nandesari area on the outskirts of the city, gave birth to a male infant on April 18".
"Later, she was shifted to another ward for treatment since she suffered from hepatitis after which she died three days ago. However, her family and relatives took away her dead body, leaving her male child behind in the NICU," Javdekar told PTI.
"We have referred the matter to the medico-legal department to take necessary action including registration of a police case," he said.
