Twelve girl students today took ill after having breakfast at the hostel mess of their government college, 65 km from here.
The first year BA course students at a government college at Attur swooned and vomited after consuming 'upma' (thick porridge from dry roasted semolina or coarse rice flour), Revenue Divisional Officer Jayachandran said.
They were admitted to the government hospital there and after treatment discharged in the evening.
Food poisoning is suspected, Jayachandran said.
