Since 2014, five serving and seven retired defence personnel and one contractual employee have been arrested for their alleged involvement in leakage of defence related information, the government said today.
In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said personal greed, lack of awareness on the part of the individual were some of the reasons for leakage of information.
All personnel involved were arrested and are at present undergoing trial, he said.
Parrikar added that two of the defence personnel have also been dismissed from the Service.
