"As many as 1,940 samples of drugs were randomly collected for checking in the lab and 133 samples were found sub-standard", Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma said here.
At present, protests are being held in the Kashmir Valley over supply of one spurious anti-biotic drug to hospitals.
The Jammu and Kashmir government on April 5 blacklisted the pharma company for supplying fake amoxicillin capsules to the ministry of Medical Education, endangering lives of thousand of patients in the state.
"Five cases were sent for prosecution but nobody was punished", he said, adding the law concerning Drugs and Cosmetics Act was "very weak" and needed to be amended.
