14 Officers complete Naval Institute course

Fourteen officers, including two from the Coast Guard, today passed out of the Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology here on completion of Aeronautical Specialisation course.
The course spanned 52 weeks, a Naval press release said.
The passing out parade was reviewed by Rear Admiral K Ravikiran, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Ship Repair Yard Kochi.
Lt Cdr Ankush Kumar Singh was awarded Director General Coast Guard trophy for Best All Rounder of the passing out course.
The HAL trophy for first in the order of merit amongst Air Engineer Officers was awarded to Lt KV Kannan, while Lt Sanchit Arya was adjudged first in the order of merit among the Air Electrical Officers. Venduruthy trophy for the best Air Technical Project was awarded to the syndicate of Lt Manish Kumar Panwar and Lt Sushil Yadav.
The officers would now proceed to various frontline squadrons of the Navy and Coast Guard for on job training prior to joining the Fleet Air Arm. On completion they would earn M.Tech degree in Aeronautical Engineering under the aegis of Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Commodore Deepak Bansal, Director of NIAT, said the present course underwent a revamped curriculum with inclusion of subjects like Computational Fluid Dynamics and Wind Tunnel Testing.
Over the years NIAT has grown to become the largest training establishment in the three services in terms of the number of courses being conducted annually and the only Armed Forces Institute to award M.Tech degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
