A total of 150 new universities were set up during the last three years with maximum of them being in Gujarat followed by Madhya Pradesh.
The information was shared by Minister of State for HRD Satyapal Singh in a written response to a question in Rajya Sabha.
A total of 19 universities were set up in Gujarat during last three years followed by Madhya Pradesh (16), Uttar Pradesh (13), Maharashtra (12) and Karnataka.
A total of 1,575 new colleges were set up during the period.
The maximum colleges were set up in Uttar Pradesh (626) followed by Karnataka (161) and Maharashtra (157).
