Over 150 students have been suspended by the deans of three medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly using "unfair means" to clear Pre-Medical Tests (PMT) conducted between 2006 and 2012 to secure admission to MBBS course.
Confirming this, Director, Medical Education Dr S S Khushwaha said that all these 153 students had gained admissions between 2006 and 2012 and police registered FIRs against them for their alleged involvement in adopting unfair practices to clear tests.
Out of 153 students, 97 students belonged to Gajra Raje Medical College, Gwalior, who had enrolled for the course between 2006 and 2010; 33 students of Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa, who had taken admission between 2006 and 2012; and 23 students of Bundelkhand Medical College, Sagar, who had enrolled in 2010.
While some of the suspended students have already passed out and even moved out of the state, other students are pursuing their post-graduate examinations.
Prior to this, 87 students in total from the Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore and Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College were suspended for allegedly adopting fraudulent means to crack the PMT examination.
Meanwhile, suspended students of the Gwalior Medical College yesterday launched an agitation against the administration terming action taken against them as "one-sided".
