The victim's father, a resident of Burj Araiyan village, lodged a complaint with the police that her 17-year-old- daughter went to fields to attend to nature's call, where one Gurkirtan Singh, a resident of Rikhia village, allegedly raped her yesterday.
Sub Inspector Sita Rani said that a rape case has been registered against Gurkirtan, who was said to be to be absconding.
The girl's medical examination was conducted at the Civil Hospital here today. The victim's statement was also recorded before a magistrate today, Rani said.
