18-year-old drowns in Chambal River

A 18-year-old youth drowned in the Chambal river while taking bath at the Chattaneshawar Mahadev river bank here, police said today.
Salman, a resident of Modak Station, drowned at the Chattaneshawar Mahadev river bank yesterday, said Sub Inspector Laxman Singh of Anantpura police station.
The youth had come to the river bank for a picnic with his friends. He fell into deep water while taking a bath, Singh said, adding rescue was started soon after the incident but the body could be recovered only this morning by the Kota Municipal Corporation rescue team.
The Inspector said, the body was handed over to family members without postmortem as they did not want any legal formalities.
Meanwhile, the body of about 65-year-old unidentified woman was recovered last evening floating under Chote Puleya on the Chambal River in Kunhadi police station area.
Identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The body has been kept at Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital's mortuary, police said.
