18-yr-old drowns in Sutlej river

An 18-year-old youth drowned while taking a bath in the Sutlej river here, police said today.
Gurpreet alias Gopi, a resident of Mohalla Baba Sri Chand, drowned in the river yesterday evening, police said.
He had gone to the river along with his four friends. Gurpreet's friends raised an alarm after he did not resurface and divers from nearby areas were deployed to search for him.
His body was later recovered from the river near Udhowal Mand (Machhiwara), police said.
