The hit 1980s sitcom "Full House" is returning to the television with Netflix ordering a 13-episode spin off.

John Stamos, who played Uncle Jess on the comedy series, confirmed the news during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show.

Stamos also revealed that he and the other castmembers will reunite for a one hour special in 2016, which will be followed by 12 episodes of the spin off show called "Fuller House".

The new show will focus on Candace Cameron Bure's character DJ Tanner, who is a recently widowed and pregnant veterinarian. Her younger sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and her childhood best buddy Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) who now has a teenage daughter Ramona, move into the house to help DJ raise her two young sons and future baby.

Stamos (who will produce the show and reprise his role as a guest star) couldn't hide his excitement as he told Kimmel about the reunion, which has taken many years to pull together.

"I'm going to give you the exclusive. Five minutes ago they called, they sealed the deal, we've been working on this for many, many years. We were trying to do some sort of spin off, to give credit to the legacy, so Netflix came around and said let's do 13 episodes.

"So it starts off as kind of a reunion, and then spins off into this... Spin off with, Candace and Jodie and Andrea. It's a labor of love And we've finally got it perfect," the 51-year-old actor said.

Full House originally aired on ABC from 1987 until 1995.
