2 Delhi govt lawyers again fight in HC, judge intervenes

Heated exchanges erupted between two lawyers inside the courtoom in the Delhi High Court today with both claiming to be the authorised representives of the AAP government, leading the judge to ask them to resolve their differences in his chamber.
It was a repeat of the scene witnessed yesterday during the hearing of the same case related to repatriation of Delhi Assembly Secretary Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara and the disciplinary proceeding initiated against him by the All India Radio (AIR).
Yesterday, additional standing counsel of the Delhi government Naushad Ahmed Khan had claimed to represent the services department in the matter, while senior standing counsel Rahul Mehra had said he had allocated the matter to another lawyer, as he had the prerogative to do so.

Today, as soon as Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva ended hearing arguments in the same matter, Mehra stood up and claimed a lawyer was making false allegations against him and his office with regard to the proceedings in the case.
He also sought that he should be discharged from the matter as he no longer wished to continue appearing in it. He said he was appearing in the matter as he was asked by the court itself to come and intervene in it.
Mehra said that "some lawyer for petty financial gains" was making allegations against him and his office.

Though Mehra took no names, Khan stood up and strongly objected to the statements made by Mehra.

Thereafter, Justice Sachdeva asked both the lawyers to meet him in his chamber in the afternoon and resolve their differences.
After the meeting, Mehra and Khan said the court had asked both of them to resolve their differences amicably.
