Crime Branch arrested Inder Pal (55) and Vijay (48) from a godown in Bawana industrial area and recovered the 612 stolen drums of the chemical, used for polishing leather and making artificial kattha, they said.
The consignment was imported from Indonesia to Mumbai and was bound for Yamuna Nagar in Haryana.
During interrogation, Inder Pal - a rice trader and scrap dealer in Delhi, and Vijay - owner of a yarn trading unit in Haryana's Panipat, said they got the chemical from one Sarajudin Rahi who used to work in Vijay's unit.
The truck was later abandoned at Yamuna Nagar and was seized by the police. After two-three days, the chemical was shifted to Delhi in the godown owned by Pal.
Pal and Vijay were searching for a buyer when the police raided the godown on specific information.
