2 make vain bid to loot coop bank

Two persons made a vain attempt to break the locker containing jewels worth Rs one crore in the Agricultural Primary cooperative Bank at Keezhkandani in the district after immobilising the security guard and dumping him in a roadside pit, police said today.
The culprits had tied the guard to a cot and dumped him into the pit around midnight yesterday.
They had broken open three locks but could not break the locker where jewels worth Rs.One crore had been kept.
Passersby who heard the security's feeble voice rescued him.
