Two officials of an old-age home have been booked on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust in Shamli district, police said Tuesday.
Additional District Magistrate K B Singh said police registered Monday an FIR against Warden Lakshmi Gupta and official Parkash for irregularities on a directive of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women (UPSCW).
During raids at the Prakashvati memorial old-age women shelter home by UPSCW vice-chairperson Sushma Singh, it was found that the number of inmates present was less than mentioned in records, he said.
Also, food items were found to be of poor quality, the officer said, adding some empty liquor bottles were also recovered from the shelter home premises.
An inquiry has been ordered into the irregularities, the officer said.
