According to police, tensions prevailed last evening in the area after members of two different communities got into a clash over a minor dispute.
The clashing groups engaged in brick batting and firing also occurred during the incident, police said, adding that, however, nobody was seriously injured.
Police and PAC personnel have been posted in the area as a precautionary measure with two persons having been arrested in connection with the violence.
Police said that preventive measures have been put in place in other communally sensitive areas of the city, like Loha Mandi and Mantola, especially in view of tensions in Muzaffarnagar district where 12 persons have so far lost their lives in clashes since August 27.
