Two Sri Lankan nationals, who claimed they were fishermen, were arrested tonight after they landed on the shore of Agnitheertham sea here on board a fibre glass boat, police said.
Varunakulasur and Jeyabal Pushbakumar, in their 30s, were arrested by a police team including DSP Mohanraj for entering Indian territory illegally, police said.
During initial questioning, the duo told police that they had put out to sea from Thalai Mannar in northern Sri Lanka in the boat and reached here after losing their way.
The boat has been seized by police, who are interrogating the two Sri Lankans.
