Acting on a tip off, personnel of the Guwahati City police, Goalpara district police and the Army launched an operation at Ganeshuli under Dhupdahar police station at around 9 PM, police sources said.
While two ULFA cadres identified as Ratul Asom alias Ratul Rabha alias Lokeshwar Rabha and Raghu Roy were killed in the operation, another managed to flee, the sources said.
A group of around seven ULFA militants had entered Goalpara district to carry out subversive activities in the run up to the Independence Day, the sources said, adding combing operation is on.
An army jawan was killed and six others were injured in an IED blast at Jugigupa in Goalpara district on July 31 when an Army convoy was passing the area.
