According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh, a complaint in this regard has been filed by a Shibban Pura resident, one Umesh Verma alias Atul, at Sihani Gate police station.
Police said that the complainant has alleged that on Oct. 6, himself and a friend of his, both aged 23, were served food items laced with sedatives by one Amit Sharma and his three associates, identified as Shahid, Sajid and Arif, when they were visiting Nahal village.
The complainants alleged that the accused threatened to implicate them in a false case of rape unless they were handed Rs 25 lakh. They added that an amount was paid by their family members for their release.
A case under Section 384 of IPC has been registered in the matter and police is ascertaining the veracity of the allegations, Singh added.
